Directions
Just as if you were kicking a ball, bring one knee high to your chest, and with a snapping motion, kick out your foot and immediately bring it back to a bent knee, THEN lower your foot down. Repeat on the other leg.
I slowed the motion down in the video so you can see the breakdown of the kick. Instead of just lifting the leg and haphazardly kicking out, focus on your form and it'll work better for you!
